26/8/06 - Rickdos lands new society bream record! The 6lb 3 oz bream fell late on in the evening again to soft pellet over 3mm halibut pellets, this was float fished on the bottom and again the evening was where the action really kicked off, 6-7 bream in the hours between 6-7 all around the 4 lb mark with the record fish showing last.a great days bream fishing at what is a magnificant venue.
22/8/06 - Rickdos tackles bury hill on his own and end up landing a 17lb 7 oz mirror carp ,a 4lb tench and numerous bream to 5lb. Rickdos used float fished soft pellet on a size 12 to 8lb line over 3mm halibut pellets. a great days fishign again at bury hill.
16/8/06 - Rickdos and Scott donks tackle bury hill. after arriving an hour before opening time we decided to make the day intereseting and by turning it into a match. the scoring for the day was as follows.
skimmer, roach, perch etc 1 pts , Bream 2 pts ,Tench 5 pts ,Carp 5 pts, biggest fish of day bonus 2 pts ,new society record bonus 10 pts.
Scott donks got off to a great start bagging two very nice bream whilst Rickdos could not set the hook properluy and lost two good bream , as the day progressed so did the leader changing to Rickdos with a constant landing of bream within the 2-3lb mark scott donks missed the chance to get a few point on the board after losing a very nice common carp and also what he thinks was a tench in the lily pads. Rickdos continued to catch through the day after building up a very good bream swim and was also rewarded for his efforts with a societ record threatening tench which tipped the scales at spot on 5lb ,with scott saying that the fish was 3-4 inches longer than his society record fish this fish obviously had the potential to be a very big fish unfortunatly for rickdos it lacked a belly and ended up being just his new tench personal best. the session continued to produce bream for rickdos and eventually flew away with the match. the day ended up being a very big success and the duo are already planning a quick return to the venue for a new match. THE FINAL SCORES ARE AS FOLLOWS
Rickdos - 12 bream 8 skimmers 1 tench = 37 pts + 2 bonus points for biggest fish of the day TOTAL 39 PTS. Scott donks - 5 Bream 1 Skimmer = 11 pts TOTAL 11 PTS
14/8/06 - scott donks takes new companion helen donks to wisley for a short fishing session obviously via bridge donks where scott caught a nice 2 and half pound chub and then to wis donks where helens first fish ever was a nice rudd just under the pound mark which was also caught with a few other rudd of the same size. Fishdonks would like to welcome helen donks the best of luck in her new fishing career
11/8/06 - Scott donks lands a 15lb mirror carp on the boat at donkers today with new fishing companion and girlfriend helen. the fish again was taken of course on floating breadcrust and hopefully helen can bring more luck to scott fishing wise over the next few weeks of the summer.
5/8/06 - Scott donks and Rickdos fish donkers and land 3 carp. The session started off looking very good with a very low wind making great conditions for surface stalking. Rickdos started to fish wilsons window and almost instantly hooked into a large common which made for the lily pads resulting in the hook pulling out. 15 minutes later Rickdos was into another fish at wilsons window this time the fish was landed even tho rickdos had to lay on a floating log to land the fish the result was a prestine 14lb mirror carp. we then took to the lake by boat which resulted in scott donks landing a very good looking common carp which again weighed 14lb. the session looked to be over when we were leaving the venue we saw some movement in the water near the entrance to donkers. we then decided to throw a few offering of bread in and was taken by a huge carp which was estimated at a high twenty. so rickdos decided to go for the fish. insetad a smaller mirror this time about 12lb was to take the bait and finish a great stalking session.
30/7/06 - Scott donks and rickdos fish park donks for a very early morning session. the session started slowely with the first 2 hours passing with a an inkling of a bite. a move of swimsto a swim which looked riddled with fish took place. within 30 minutes of scott putting his hair rigged feeder fished corn to the far bank a good run resulted in a nicely shaped mirror carp of about 6 lbs. this was followed 15 minutes later by a nice 4lb tench. with midday approaching and knowing that the fishing goes very dead at this lake during the day we decided to call it a day so all in all a good early session.
27/7/06 - Rickdos Fished park donks for a very early morning session. The sessions started at 5 o clock with rickdos using floatfished bread flake over mashed bread and sweetcorn. it took a good hour to get a few knocks on the float but soon the sport really turned good when the fish were attracted to the swim. the first fish which fell to these tactics was a Very nice tench what weighed in just under 5lb. shortly after that another tench followed this time a little bit smaller at around the 4lb mark. the sport just got better and better with bites coming from all angles. 20 minutes after the second tench a good fish was hooked and darted off towards the submerged tree, this was definatly either a big tench or a carp and unfortunatly we will never find out as the hook pulled. by 8 o clock the 3rd tench was landed this time another 4lb female tinca was banked. after the third tench the session had to be cut short but a very good morning session and a good bag of tench.
20/7/06 - Rickdos and Dan boy fished Gold valleys Gold lake for a very productive day. rickdos took a very early lead in the race to land the most carp with 5 carp before 9 o clock whilst dan boy started off slowly the day progressed well for both members. Dan boy has made a new entry into the fishdonks record books with a 1lb Crucian Carp! the biggest fish of the day went to dan boy who landed a nice 8lb common carp. most fish went to Rickdos who landed 13 carp to 6lb including a nice crucian and ghostie ,11 Bream to 2lb and a few roach and rudd.A number of baits were used throughout the day ,dan boy mostly using boilie whilst rickdos was using meat both over a feeder with a good groundbait mix. Overall a good day at gold valley. Also the carp grand slam was acheived with all of the available carp being caught (Mirror ,Common ,Crucian ,Ghost)
8/7/06 - Dan boy fished the river wey for a short evening session last night and caught an 8lb Barbel. The barbel the IFS first of the new season fell to hair rigged 14mm marine halibut pellet over a bed of 6mm halibut pellet. Images of the Barbel will be posted soon.
3/7/06 - Fishdonks members Rickdos and Dan boy visited Old Bury Hill for a days boating session. Arriving at Old Bury hill at opening time we wasted no time and got on the boat and out on the lake. The day was predicted to be 92 degrees so we knew that it wouldnt be easy fishing. We anchored up in the jungle area of the lake and started float fishing close to a lily bed and with a carp rod ledgered of the back of the boat cast to a small inlet . Within 20 minutes the carp rod screamed off and a nice 9lb Common carp was the reward for dan. the rod was recast into the same position and within another 5 minutes the rod Screamed off ,this was by no means a small fish and darted straight out towards the island. Unfortunatly the line seemed to have weakened and snapped with barely any pressure being applied to the fish. Then came a long wait unitl the next fish which was only a small bream of around a 1lb and half. we continued to move around in the boat throughout the day looking for a bite but nothing came of it. A couple more small skimmers fell to dan and a small perch to rick. A Wise floridian once said to me that 'He caught nothing but the sunshine boy' and this echoed our sentiments exactly! overall a dissapointing day for what is a prolific carp and tench venue.
29/6/06 - Fishdonks members Rickdos and Scott donks visit the river thames for a afternoon session. The river was clear and the weather very sunny which made it very bad conditions for bream fishing. never the less we still decided to fish on. two carp rods fished with 1 pop up strawberry and 1 crab boilie with pva bag filled with halibut pellets and hemp. This small session was brought to an abrupt end from Rickdos when he kicked the bait bucket in the water and said ciao to the groundbait! so we decided to take a trip to garden donks via bridge donks. at bridge donks we decided to attempt to catch a chub at the same time instead of spooking the fish off when catching one. so we cast a freeline breadcrust and looked like nothing was intersetd then at the end of the run a bite for rickdos. The result a prestine 3lb Chub. Onto garden donks the laked didnt look as good as normal and this was evident when there wasnt too many fish showing. we decided to stalk round trying our hand at hitting a few on the nose to intice them into taking our bread. unfortunatly the carp decided to stay low and feed off the bottom. So there we decided to call it a day. so a dissapointing session ended with just one fish of the day and that was a 3lb Chub.
28/6/06 - Fishdonks members Rickdos ,Dan boy and scott donks visit the River thames for a quiet morning early evening session. the session started off with a small run on one of two carp rods which was a pop up strawberry boilie. soon after first fish of the day arrived which was a small perch which fell to feeder tactics with liquidised bread ,hemp, maggot and groundbait in the feeder and doublee white maggot as hookbait. soon after followed a nice bream to around 3 pounds, which again was shortly followed by a smaller bream of about 2 pounds. both were in great condition and were the first bream caught this river season. shortly after two more small perch followed. pole tactics fished by dan boy never really took off and only 1 small bite occured in the whole session. later on that evening Dan boy added two more skimmer bream and a couple more perch to what was a decent river thames session.
